Alex Woolf is a British medieval historian and academic based at the University of St Andrews, where he holds the position of senior lecturer. His research focuses on the history of Britain and Ireland during the Early Middle Ages, with secondary interest in Scandinavian history from the same period. Woolf's scholarly approach emphasizes interaction and comparison across traditional ethnic boundaries, examining how different peoples and cultures of medieval Britain, Ireland, and Scandinavia influenced and related to one another rather than studying them in isolation.
