Candice Millard is an American writer and journalist. She is the author of four books, including The River of Doubt, which explores the Roosevelt–Rondon Scientific Expedition of the Amazon rainforest in 1913–14, and Destiny of the Republic, about the life and assassination of United States President James A. Garfield. Millard has also written about Winston Churchill's activities during the Boer War in her book Hero of the Empire, and the search for the source of the Nile River in River of the Gods.
