Cormac McCarthy was an American author who wrote twelve novels, two plays, five screenplays, and three short stories. His works spanned the Western, post-apocalyptic, and Southern Gothic genres, often featuring graphic violence and a distinctive writing style characterized by a sparse use of punctuation and attribution. McCarthy is widely regarded as one of the greatest American novelists of his time. Born in 1933 in Providence, Rhode Island, he went on to live in various parts of the United States, including Tennessee and New Mexico, where he spent the later part of his life. McCarthy passed away in 2023 at the age of 89 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
