Douglas Stuart is a Scottish-American fashion designer and writer born in Glasgow, Scotland. He studied at the Scottish College of Textiles and later at London's Royal College of Art before moving to New York City at age 24. In New York, he worked in fashion design while beginning his writing career. Stuart's debut novel, Shuggie Bain, was awarded the 2020 Booker Prize, bringing significant recognition to his work. He has since published Young Mungo in April 2022 and John of John in May 2026.
