Edmund R. Schubert is an American author and editor who has worked primarily in science fiction and fantasy, though he has also written mystery stories. One of his mystery short stories was a preliminary nominee for an Edgar Award in 2006 for Best Short Story. In 2015, Schubert received a nomination for the Hugo Award for Best Editor. However, he withdrew himself from consideration, citing concerns about block voting tactics that had been used to shape the ballot. In his statement, he explained that he could not in good conscience object to unfair voting practices while accepting an award that resulted from those same practices, as doing so would be hypocritical. Beyond his fiction work, Schubert has contributed to and edited several business magazines throughout his career.
