Gustav Kobbé was an American music critic and author born in New York City in 1857. He became best known for his work as a guide to the operas, The Complete Opera Book, which was first published posthumously in the United States in 1919 and in the United Kingdom in 1922. Kobbé died on Long Island, New York in 1918.
