James Rebanks is an English sheep farmer from Matterdale in Cumbria. He is also an author who has written several books exploring farming, rural life, and the landscape of northern England. Rebanks published his autobiography, The Shepherd's Life, in 2015, which became his first major work. That same year he also published The Illustrated Herdwick Shepherd. In 2016, he released The Shepherd's View: Modern Photographs from an Ancient Landscape. His later book, English Pastoral, was published in 2020.
