Paul Shapiro is an American animal welfare writer and entrepreneur. He authored Clean Meat: How Growing Meat Without Animals Will Revolutionize Dinner and the World, published in 2018. The book explores cultivated meat technology and its potential impact on food systems and the world. Shapiro has been active in animal protection advocacy for years. He founded Animal Outlook and served as Vice President at the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), where he worked on animal welfare issues before transitioning to writing and entrepreneurship. Beyond his book, Shapiro is the CEO and cofounder of The Better Meat Co. He also hosts the Business for Good Podcast and has delivered five TEDx talks focused on sustainable food systems and animal welfare topics.
