Gordon Randall Phillip David Garrett was an American science fiction and fantasy author active during the mid-twentieth century. He was a regular contributor to Astounding and other prominent science fiction magazines throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Garrett was known for his work in action-adventure science fiction and played a mentoring role in the field. He instructed fellow author Robert Silverberg in the techniques of writing and selling large quantities of action-adventure science fiction material. Beyond his individual contributions, Garrett collaborated with Silverberg on at least two novels that featured a common theme: men from Earth disrupting a peaceful agrarian civilization on an alien planet.
