Sherwood Anderson

Sherwood Anderson was an American novelist and short story writer recognized for his subjective and self-revealing literary style. Though largely self-educated, he achieved success in the business world, working as a copywriter and owning a business in Cleveland and Elyria, Ohio. In 1912, Anderson experienced a nervous breakdown that marked a turning point in his life. This crisis prompted him to leave behind his business ventures and family responsibilities to pursue writing full-time.
