Tess Gerritsen is an American novelist and retired general physician. Born in San Diego, California in 1953, she brought her medical background into her writing career. Her experience as a physician has informed much of her fiction, particularly her crime and medical thrillers. Gerritsen has established herself as a prolific author in the thriller genre, with her work often drawing on medical and scientific knowledge.
