Every morning, Siftivo serves you a fresh Today page. We call it the Daily Sift — a curated mix of spotlighted books, editorial picks, and personalized recommendations.
It’s the part of the product that feels most like a magazine. But unlike a magazine, it’s different for every reader.
The Design Principle
The Today page exists because discovery shouldn’t always require effort. Sometimes you want to browse your way into a new book the way you’d flip through a bookshop — not searching for anything specific, just open to what catches your eye.
We wanted that feeling, but personalized. Not “today’s bestsellers” but “today’s picks, for you.”
How It Works
The Daily Sift runs as a scheduled job every morning. It pulls together three layers:
Spotlights — A small set of books highlighted with editorial context. Why this book, why now, what makes it interesting. These rotate daily and lean toward variety: a mix of new releases, rediscovered gems, and books that fit seasonal or cultural moments.
Taste-matched picks — Books drawn from your taste profile that you haven’t seen before. This is the personalized layer. Two readers opening their Today page will see different books here, each matched to their individual anchors and reading history.
Community signals — What’s generating conversation among Siftivo readers. Not bestseller lists, but books that people are actually engaging with — adding to shelves, writing reviews, exploring sessions that keep coming back to the same title.
Why Editorial + Algorithmic
Pure algorithmic feeds converge. They get narrower over time, showing you more of what you’ve already seen. Pure editorial feeds can’t personalize. The Daily Sift combines both: editorial breadth with algorithmic relevance.
The editorial layer keeps things surprising. The taste layer keeps things relevant. Together, they create the feeling we’re after: I didn’t know I was looking for this, but I’m glad I found it.
What’s Next
The Daily Sift is still early. We’re working on richer editorial content — author spotlights, thematic collections, seasonal reading guides — all layered on top of the personalization engine.
The goal is to make opening Siftivo feel like walking into a bookshop that somehow rearranged itself overnight, just for you.
