The agreement between you and Siftivo for use of the website and the iOS app: who can use it, what you may post, how moderation works, and what happens if you stop.
These terms are the agreement between you and Siftivo for use of our website and our iOS app. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the service.
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using it you confirm you meet these requirements.
You are responsible for your account and for what happens under it, including keeping your sign-in details to yourself. Tell us promptly at hello@siftivo.com if you think someone else has access. One person, one account. Do not impersonate anyone, and do not pick a handle designed to suggest you are someone you are not.
Your reviews, lists, journal entries and anything else you create remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
So that we can actually run the service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display the content you choose to make public, and to show it to other readers within the service. This licence exists only to operate and promote the service, and it ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already made by others or retained in backups until they expire.
You confirm that what you post is yours to post and does not infringe anyone else's rights.
Siftivo is a place to talk about books. The following are not allowed anywhere on the service, including in reviews, lists, handles, display names and profile pictures:
Criticism is not abuse. A negative review of a book is entirely welcome. A personal attack on its author, or on another reader, is not.
Every review and profile carries a way to report it, and you can block any reader so that you no longer see their content and they can no longer interact with you. Reports go to us directly and we review them promptly.
Where content breaks section 5 we may remove it, hide it while we look at it, limit what an account can do, or close the account outright. We aim to tell you when we act on something you posted and to give you a way to respond, except where telling you would be unlawful or would put someone at risk.
To report a copyright or trademark problem, write to hello@siftivo.com with enough detail to identify the work and the material you say infringes it.
Book details, cover images, descriptions and awards come from publishers, public catalogues and other third parties. We work to keep them accurate and we cannot promise they are. Covers and descriptions remain the property of their rights holders and appear here to identify the work.
Links to buy a book may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission on a purchase at no extra cost to you. Whether a link earns us anything never affects whether a book is recommended to you. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site, under their terms.
Parts of the service may be offered on a paid subscription. If you buy one through the iOS app, Apple takes the payment and their terms govern the transaction, including renewals and refunds, which you manage in your Apple account settings. If you buy through our website, our payment processor handles it and the price, billing period and cancellation terms are the ones shown to you at the time. Unless the law says otherwise, payments already made are not refundable.
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to. Sections 4, 11, 12 and 13 survive the end of this agreement.
The service is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, that it will be error free, that book information will be accurate, or that a recommendation will suit you.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Siftivo is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.
Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as that jurisdiction permits.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the courts located there have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that either of us may seek injunctive relief anywhere it is needed.
The following applies to the app downloaded from the Apple App Store:
We may update these terms. When we do we will move the date at the top, and where a change matters we will tell you in the product or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
Questions about these terms go to hello@siftivo.com.
