Part of Duncan Kincaid & Gemma James, book 1
First published 2003
Duncan Kincaid arrives at Followdale House expecting a peaceful week at the Yorkshire time-share. The Scotland Yard Superintendent plans to relax in luxury after months of demanding cases. His vacation ends abruptly when he discovers a corpse floating in the whirlpool bath. One of the guests he met just days earlier is dead. Another guest is the killer. The local police offer little help with their investigation. Kincaid cannot ignore the crime despite his vacation status. He calls Sergeant Gemma James to assist with the case. Together they interview the remaining guests and examine the crime scene. A second murder raises the danger significantly. Kincaid and James realize they face a calculating killer who takes pleasure in death. They must identify the murderer before more guests die at Followdale House.
