Wedge Antilles flies a reconnaissance mission over the remote planet Akiva when Imperial Star Destroyers suddenly appear. The ships gather in formation like predators preparing to strike. Before Wedge can escape to warn New Republic command, Imperial forces capture him. Down on Akiva's surface, former rebel pilot Norra Wexley has come home. She wants to reconnect with her son and leave the war behind. Then she picks up Wedge's desperate distress signal. Norra realizes she cannot abandon the fight yet. Imperial survivors are meeting secretly on Akiva to plan their comeback. They intend to rebuild their shattered forces and launch a devastating counterattack against the New Republic. Norra assembles an unlikely team to stop them. Her technically gifted son joins the mission. A Zabrak bounty hunter signs on. An Imperial deserter offers his help. Together they must infiltrate the enemy summit and destroy the Empire's last hope of resurgence.
