Avatar Volume 6

by Michael Dante DiMartino

First published 2007

Aang and his friends enter a small Earth Kingdom mining town under Fire Nation control. They meet Haru, a young boy hiding his earthbending abilities to avoid arrest by the occupying forces. The Fire Nation discovers this new alliance between Aang's group and the local earthbender. Guards capture the entire company and transport them to a remote prison facility. The structure appears designed to prevent any possibility of escape. Aang faces the possibility that his mission to restore balance to the world might end before he can fulfill his role as the Avatar. The prison represents more than physical confinement for the young airbender. His destiny to defeat the Fire Lord and save the world hangs in the balance. The capture forces Aang to confront whether his journey will continue or whether the Fire Nation has finally succeeded in stopping the last airbender permanently.
