Part of InCryptid, book 12
First published 2023
Alice Price-Healy spent fifty years crossing dimensions to find her missing husband Thomas. She found him. She also came back with Sally, a surrogate daughter whose connection to Alice's recently adopted grandson complicates everything further. Now the three of them are headed to Earth, and Alice has no plan beyond getting there. Home is not waiting quietly. The Covenant of St. George has decided to retake North America, starting with New York. Verity's televised declaration of war and Sarah's stunt relocating an entire college campus gave them the motivation. The Covenant is moving fast, and the cryptids and cryptozoologists who have kept the peace for a century are in their crosshairs. Alice and Thomas and Sally land and within an hour the Ocean Lady and the Queen of the Routewitches are pointing them toward New York. There are dragons in the politics, people are being kidnapped, and family members are making everything harder in the specific way only family can. Alice has spent half a century with one goal. Now she has Thomas back, a city in crisis, and no clear idea what normal is supposed to look like anymore. Finding out might be the most dangerous thing she has ever done.
