Cricket Campbell works at a wellness company but feels far from well herself. At twenty-six, she remains stuck in place, still reeling from a tragedy that struck ten years earlier. Now her father Arthur faces an Alzheimer's diagnosis, and her sister Nina wants to move him to a memory care facility. Cricket proposes a different plan. She will return to the family house at Catwood Pond in the Adirondacks and become Arthur's caretaker. She hopes this will mend their damaged relationship and pull her from her long funk. Back at the lake house she once loved but abandoned as a teenager, Cricket makes a startling discovery. As Arthur loses his memories of the past, he gains an uncanny ability to see the future. Neighbors begin treating him as an oracle. Cricket must decide whether to believe in his prophecies, even if doing so forces her to confront the most painful chapters of her own story.
