Louise works as a secretary and raises her child alone. She rarely goes out, but one evening she meets David at a bar. They kiss before he disappears into the night. Monday morning brings a shock when David walks into her office as her new boss. He wears a wedding ring and calls their kiss a mistake, yet he watches her constantly. Louise soon meets Adele, David's wife, who seems lonely and eager for friendship. Adele appears fragile while David acts controlling toward her. Louise notices fear in Adele's behavior around her husband. The couple presents a perfect marriage to the world, but Louise sees cracks in their facade. She becomes entangled in their relationship, discovering secrets that don't add up. David's controlling nature and Adele's terror suggest something dark lurks beneath their polished surface.
