Beau Reese storms into his father's house ready for a confrontation. The wealthy Texas businessman is furious that Stewart, his sixty-year-old father and former state senator, has gotten a teenager pregnant. Beau expects to find his father with some young woman, but instead discovers a different surprise: Cassidy Jones, an attractive woman closer to his own age. Before Beau can sort out who Cassidy is or why she's there, he finds Stewart dead in his study, blood pooled around the body. When Cassidy walks in and sees Beau holding what appears to be the murder weapon, both realize they're in serious trouble. Cassidy reveals she's actually a private detective who was hired to investigate someone following Stewart. Now she needs to find his killer instead. Neither believes the other committed the murder, but convincing the police will be harder. They decide to work together to uncover the truth, knowing their partnership will pull them into both romance and mortal danger.
