Huck, a charismatic riverboat singer, dreams of making it big in the jazz clubs of New Orleans. When his boat breaks down in a small river town, he's forced to put his ambitions on hold and take a job at the local saloon. There, he meets a spirited barmaid named Lila, and the two strike up an unlikely friendship. As Huck helps Lila navigate her own aspirations, he's torn between staying put or risking it all to chase his musical calling down the Big River. In the end, Huck must decide whether to abandon his dreams or risk losing the connection he's forged with Lila.
