Riversplash Mountain faces invasion by hostile boars summoned through dark magic. A vengeful sorcerer snake has sent these creatures to destroy the peaceful realm. Farmer mouse Thrym refuses to flee. He joins forces with Muspul the hedgehog, two brave shrews, and mouse maiden Olweena to mount a defense. The small group adopts the identities of the Brave Tails, ancient sword-bearing champions who once protected their land from predators. They don masks and take up weapons, but quickly discover that traditional combat cannot stop this supernatural threat. The boars prove too numerous and fierce for ordinary tactics. The defenders must seek magical solutions to counter the sorcerer's spell. Yet the mystical powers they need carry their own terrible risks.
