Breda Moriarity has been caught stealing again. Her mother decides enough is enough and ships her off to Ireland to stay with her granda, a man Breda has never met. The old farmer lives alone on his land, telling traditional Gaelic stories as a seanchaí, but he's not exactly welcoming. Breda finds herself stuck in a country she doesn't know, with a grandfather who seems to want nothing to do with her. The rolling green landscape feels alien, and everything reminds her of how far she is from home. But Breda has questions that need answers, especially about her father, who disappeared from her life years ago. Her family refuses to talk about what happened to him or why he left. As the summer stretches ahead, Breda decides she won't leave Ireland without learning the truth about her father and the secrets her family has been keeping from her.
