Savannah Cody discovers her first gray hair and makes a deadly decision. She will track down Edward "Nickel" Terhune, the father of her son and getaway driver for the notorious Brady Gang. The FBI wants him badly enough to offer a substantial bounty. Savannah packs up her boy and her father Wendell, a former railroad detective, for a cross country pursuit through Depression ravaged America. But as the family closes in on Nickel, Savannah's true motives become murky. The FBI agent Alford starts questioning whether she plans to collect the reward or something else entirely. Meanwhile, Nickel runs with the Brady Gang as they dodge law enforcement and chase one last big score. He knows his past will catch up eventually and searches for an escape route that might lead to redemption. The chase accelerates toward a confrontation that will force each character to choose between competing loyalties. Family bonds, criminal justice, and personal vengeance collide as Savannah races to reach Nickel before the authorities do.
