First published 2024

Yeeran has spent her whole life fighting. As a colonel in the elven army, she knows war, loss, and little else. When a fatal mistake ends her military career and forces her into exile, her sister Lettle refuses to let her go alone. Lettle is a diviner, her magic pointed at a future she cannot yet read clearly, and she follows Yeeran into the unmapped wilderness beyond the Elven Lands. Out there, the sisters track an obeah, a creature part leopard and part stag whose magic the elves harvest for weapons. The hunt ends badly. A group of fae surrounds them and takes them captive. The fae are not supposed to exist. A thousand years have passed since elves, fae, and humans shared the world, and the last two have long since faded into legend. Now Yeeran and Lettle are prisoners inside a fae court, learning its rules and its dangers while searching for a way out. The longer they stay, the harder the choice becomes: return to the homeland that exiled one of them, or stay in a world that is stranger, more beautiful, and more dangerous than anything they have ever known.
