First published 2015
Stone Barrington receives notice of an urgent meeting that requires immediate travel to Europe. He departs quickly for what should combine business obligations with personal enjoyment. The trip turns problematic from the beginning. Suspicious accidents occur repeatedly. Unfortunate incidents pile up around him. Some of his carefully arranged plans literally burst into flames. Stone refuses to accept these events as mere coincidence. He begins investigating the real cause behind his string of bad luck. What initially seemed like random misfortune reveals itself as something more deliberate. Stone realizes these incidents may actually constitute a warning. His journey takes him through Paris and along Italy's Amalfi Coast. Enemies pursue him from multiple directions. Stone finds himself constantly looking over his shoulder. The pursuit intensifies as he moves between cities. Eventually the dynamic shifts. Stone transforms from prey to predator. The hunter becomes the hunted.
