Part of Pike Logan, book 3.5

First published 2013

Pike Logan is healing from wounds sustained during his last brutal assignment with the Taskforce, a covert counter-terrorist organization that operates beyond legal boundaries. When another Taskforce team requests Jennifer Cahill's assistance, Pike must step back and allow his partner to take charge of the mission. Jennifer begins surveillance on two women believed connected to a terrorist conspiracy, but her investigation reveals something different than expected. The team leader dismisses her findings and refuses to consider her alternative theory. Jennifer clashes with him over the direction of the operation, damaging their standing within the unit. She remains convinced that the real threat lies elsewhere and continues pursuing her leads. Pike faces a difficult choice between supporting Jennifer's judgment and maintaining their credibility with the Taskforce. If Jennifer is mistaken, they risk losing their positions and future assignments. If she is correct, they may be the only ones capable of stopping a danger that surpasses anything they have encountered before.
