Rosefinch has spent two years walking the rough coastline, searching for a witch powerful enough to help her master her unpredictable magic. The backlash from her spells causes constant pain, and she grows desperate for relief. Her journey leads her to Harp, a village by the sea where an abandoned castle once housed a legendary Witch Queen. The castle stands empty except for a single knight frozen in ice at the entrance. When Rosefinch breaks the spell imprisoning the guard, she frees Thierry, a mysterious human whose memory has been wiped clean. Thierry carries a fey sword that should be impossible for any mortal to wield, yet they remain trapped within the castle walls by powerful magic. As Rosefinch explores the ruins, she realizes other members of the Harp family still hide somewhere in the structure. The castle fell into ruin for dark reasons, and Rosefinch faces an impossible choice between saving Thierry and discovering the secrets of the Witch Queen that might finally give her the control over magic she desperately needs.
