A moose has wandered into town, and the residents don't know what to make of their unexpected visitor. Three young boys watch as the large animal settles into their Minnesota community, but they soon realize the moose faces a deadly problem. Winter approaches with bitter cold and deep snow, and the moose seems unprepared for the harsh season ahead. The boys must decide whether to intervene or let nature take its course. As temperatures drop and food becomes scarce, they devise plans to help the moose survive. Their efforts put them at odds with adults who view the animal as a nuisance or danger. The boys discover that saving the moose means more than just providing food and shelter. They must convince an entire town to care about one lost creature when practical concerns suggest otherwise.
