A small caterpillar emerges from his egg on Sunday morning, his belly empty and growling. Monday finds him chomping through one apple. Tuesday he devours two pears, Wednesday three plums. The little creature continues his feast with four strawberries on Thursday and five oranges on Friday. Saturday brings chaos as he gorges himself on cake, ice cream, pickles, and pie until his stomach hurts. When Sunday returns, he soothes his aching belly with one green leaf. Now plump and drowsy, the caterpillar spins a cocoon around himself. For two weeks he rests inside his silky home. Then he pushes through the walls and emerges completely changed, his body now equipped with brilliant, colorful wings. This is a story about growth, patience, and the magic of transformation that happens when we give ourselves time to change.
