Leonid McGill receives a phone call at a number nobody should have. Alphonse Rinaldo is on the line. Rinaldo fixes problems across all five boroughs of New York City, the kind of problems that require his particular expertise. He needs McGill to check on a young woman who has him worried. McGill knows he cannot refuse Rinaldo, so he heads uptown. He walks straight into a murder scene. The NYPD immediately suspects McGill because of his criminal past. Rinaldo refuses to let McGill abandon the case or explain his connection to the missing woman. He only insists that she must be found. McGill makes his own deal. He will locate the girl, but he will not deliver her until he understands why Rinaldo wants her so badly. This decision forces McGill deeper into the violent underworld that thrives beneath New York's clean surface. He must protect his family, his friends, and his own soul while navigating between old enemies and dangerous allies. McGill has committed himself to going straight, but that path keeps leading him back into the city's most corrupt corners.
