Megan has her heart set on playing Dorothy in her fourth grade class musical based on The Wizard of Oz. She plans to sign the songs for her audition, but one teacher questions whether a deaf Dorothy makes sense for the production. Megan faces a bigger challenge when her best friend Lizzie transfers from an all-deaf school into her class. Lizzie chooses the exact same two songs Megan picked for her audition. Now Megan must find new ways to stand out and win the role she wants. The competition tests their friendship as both girls pursue the same dream. Academy Award winner Marlee Matlin and Doug Cooney craft a story about the complications of childhood friendships, showing how kids navigate disappointment and rivalry while staying true to themselves.
