Josie Dupre feels alone in New Orleans. Her parents have died, her twin sister Kitty is getting married, and no romantic prospects appear likely. She focuses on her thriving catering business and her small white dog Rosie for companionship. Everything changes when a massive Boxer named Zip crashes through her flower boxes and wins Rosie's heart instantly. The dogs become inseparable, forcing Josie to spend time with Zip's owner, Paul Brouillette. Paul is wealthy, attractive, and clearly a Cajun playboy who charms women then disappears. Josie refuses to become another conquest. But Paul's presence triggers unexplained events. She hears phantom music and catches whiffs of her deceased mother's perfume in empty rooms. These mysterious signs suggest her mother is reaching out from beyond, perhaps urging Josie to open herself to unexpected love and trust her instincts.
