Living Dead

by Christopher Pike

Sarah Martinez thought her biggest problem was surviving senior year at Roosevelt High. Then she dies in a car accident on Highway 101 and wakes up three days later at her own funeral. She can see her grieving family and friends, but they cannot see or hear her. Sarah exists in a gray zone between worlds, neither fully alive nor completely dead. She discovers other students who share her condition, all victims of recent accidents around town. Together they uncover a dark conspiracy involving their deaths. Someone orchestrated these accidents deliberately. As Sarah investigates, she learns she has limited time before she fades completely into whatever comes after death. She must expose the truth behind the killings while navigating her new existence as one of the living dead. The deeper she digs, the more she realizes that her death was not random, and returning to life may require a sacrifice she is not prepared to make.
