Midnight in the Pentagram

by Todd Keisling

First published 2020

The midnight hour approaches as brimstone fills the air. Someone has carved a pentagram into the hardwood floor, arranging five obsidian candles around its edges. The inverted pentacle serves as a gateway, its points reaching toward heaven like horns during a witches' sabbat. Incantations begin as the clock counts down. The ritual could summon Baphomet, Belial, or even Lucifer himself. Roof timbers groan under supernatural pressure. Plaster crashes to the floor as something powerful stirs beyond the veil. When the demon finally materializes, it carries an ancient grimoire bound in leather and written in blood. The pages contain evil stories collected across centuries. Each tale reveals another piece of darkness that has seeped into our world. The summoning succeeds, but the true horror lies in what the demon brings with it.
