Part of Virgin River, book 10

First published 2010

Erin Foley has spent years caring for her younger siblings, but now they've moved on with their lives. At thirty-five, she finds herself alone and uncertain about her next steps. She decides to take a break from everything and rents an upgraded cabin in the woods near Virgin River. Erin plans to spend her time alone, meditating and writing in her journal to figure out who she really is. Her peaceful retreat gets complicated when she encounters Aiden Riordan, a scruffy mountain man with long hair and a thick beard. Aiden looks like he belongs in the wilderness, but he's actually a doctor taking time off after his navy service ended. He finds Erin attractive, though her somewhat standoffish attitude and spiritual practices keep him at a distance. Erin thinks Aiden is just another outdoorsman, not realizing his true profession or his interest in her. Both are trying to heal from their pasts, but the residents of Virgin River have other plans for the unlikely pair.
