Warner and his sister Prayer crouch in their miniature house, listening for the thunderous footsteps of normal-sized people who might crush them without noticing. In their world, money literally makes you bigger. The wealthy tower like skyscrapers while the poorest shrink to rodent size. Warner and Prayer live as littlepoors, facing constant threats that rich people never imagine. Cats hunt them like prey. Giant feet could flatten their home in an instant. No cars, phones, schools, or hospitals exist in their size because they have no buying power. Doctors and teachers are too large to fit through their tiny doors anyway. The siblings know they must find a way to scale up and escape their dangerous miniature existence. But surviving long enough to accumulate wealth seems impossible when the entire world works against them. Every day brings new perils as they navigate a society that has forgotten people their size exist.
