Sheriff Tony Abernathy thought autumn in Park County, Tennessee would bring quieter days. Instead, loan shark Weevil Beasley turns up dead and the body count starts climbing. Tony's wife Theo leads her quilting group on a retreat to The Lodge, where they plan to work on projects and attend upcoming weddings. When a quilter arrives early and gets murdered, Tony finds himself juggling cranky crafters, upset hotel staff, and his wife's investigative instincts. Theo tracks gossip that might help her husband while managing unfinished quilts and distributing patterns for her new mystery design. Tony discovers murder isn't his only problem. Armed troublemakers roam the county. Vandals shoot up road signs and dump rotting fish around town. Even senior citizens cause chaos. His devoted admirer Blossom Flowers gets so caught up in romance she barely has time to bake his favorite pies. Tony must solve multiple killings while keeping peace among quilters and containing the various criminals terrorizing his small mountain community.
