Major Rodger Y. Murphy should have died when his helicopter went down near Mogadishu in 1993. Instead, he opens his eyes in 2125, floating in space 152 light years from Earth. Unknown abductors placed him and 100 other soldiers in cold sleep before abandoning them in the 55 Tauri system. Officers from the Consolidated Terran Republic have found these "Lost Soldiers" and given them an impossible mission. They must build a base on the main planet using allies they don't have and weapons they must steal from enemies. The Republic's ships then depart, leaving Murphy with the dregs of the group. These soldiers were deemed too unreliable for the main rescue mission. Now 55 Tauri A approaches, bringing technologically advanced raiders who pillage the system during each close pass. Murphy leads his band of misfits and outcasts against impossible odds. They call themselves Murphy's Lawless, determined to prove their worth and survive what's coming.
