Gabe Fuentes finds himself rescued from the moon by Kaen, a fellow Ambassador, only to learn that Earth faces extinction. The Outlast, a species that destroys all other life forms, has targeted his home planet. Nadia, Earth's former Ambassador, abandoned her position to fight these destroyers. She has learned that the Outlast travel through pathways built by the enigmatic Machinae, beings who have remained silent for centuries. While Nadia ventures into deep space seeking the Machinae, Gabe returns to Earth with a personal mission. His father was deported to Mexico, and Gabe desperately wants to reunite his family.
