Odjuret

by Anders Roslund

First published 2012

Two children lie dead in a basement storage room. The killer receives his sentence and disappears behind prison walls. Four years pass. Then he escapes. The manhunt begins immediately, but this time the violence spreads like an infection. It moves from a quiet small town where neighbors once felt safe to a maximum security prison where guards maintain constant watch. The escaped murderer will kill again. Everyone knows this. The question becomes who will die first. Police race against time while the body count rises. Each death leads to another act of violence. The cycle feeds on itself. In the end, the hunt forces an impossible choice about whose life matters most. Some will live and others will die, but the decision about who deserves to survive will test every moral boundary.
