Ned Covington is ten years old when he finds the abandoned building. It sits near his house, empty and waiting. Most kids would stay away, but Ned feels drawn to explore its dark rooms and forgotten corners. The building holds mysteries that call to him, pulling him back again and again. Each visit reveals something new, something that shouldn't be there. The empty halls echo with sounds that have no source. Shadows move without light to cast them. Ned knows he should tell someone, should stay away, but the building won't let him go. It wants something from him, something only a child can give. As Ned ventures deeper into the structure's secrets, he discovers that some places remember everything that happened within their walls. The building has been waiting for someone exactly like him.
