Jesus walks into the Judean desert for forty days of fasting and prayer. The wilderness strips away everything familiar. Sand, rock, and endless sky become his world. Other hermits and seekers occupy caves nearby, each pursuing their own spiritual quest. Jesus battles hunger, thirst, and the temptations that arise in his solitude. Wild animals prowl the landscape. Bandits threaten travelers on distant roads. The desert tests every belief Jesus holds about himself and his purpose. His body weakens as his mind confronts visions and voices. Each day brings new challenges to his resolve. The other desert dwellers watch and wonder about this young man who claims no earthly teacher. As the forty days progress, Jesus must choose between the safety of his former life and an uncertain path forward. The desert becomes both enemy and teacher, forcing him to discover what he truly believes about God, humanity, and his own calling.
