Shuos Jedao opens his eyes with the mind of a seventeen-year-old cadet trapped inside the body of a much older man. His fragmented memories offer little help as Hexarch Nirai Kujen commands him to restore the broken hexarchate through military conquest. Jedao faces an impossible task: he remembers nothing about being a soldier or general, with only video game skills to guide him. The Kel troops he must lead despise him for a massacre he cannot recall committing. Kujen presents himself as an ally, but his tyrannical nature becomes clear. Jedao discovers that an enemy who knows far more about his forgotten crimes is hunting both him and Kujen. As he struggles to piece together his lost identity, Jedao must navigate between hostile subordinates, a manipulative superior, and pursuers who remember what he has done. The fate of the fractured hexarchate hangs on the decisions of a man who doesn't know who he truly is.
