Ariana Molina lives hidden in Chicago as a high school senior. Her father Reynaldo works as a federal investigator in Mexico, hunting criminal organizations that would kill them both if they found her. When Reynaldo appears at her door without warning, everything changes. A car accident kills someone and leaves Ariana seeing visions of a skeletal figure in veils who calls to her. Gruesome ghosts visit her day and night. Chicago street gang members start following her, suspicious about who she really is. Ariana learns these gang members work for Mexico's most brutal drug cartel. They want her father dead, and they want her dead too. She must choose how to save both their lives. Only Santa Muerte, the saint of death, can help her now. Sometimes death becomes the only path to salvation.
