Part of Joe Pickett, book 22

First published 2022

Marybeth Pickett discovers an unmarked package at her library containing a photo album that once belonged to a Nazi official. The album connects to Wyoming soldiers who fought their way to Hitler's Alpine retreat during World War II. When Joe Pickett visits the son of a deceased local veteran who likely served in that unit, he finds the man tortured and killed. Someone wants the album badly enough to murder for it. As bodies pile up and a neighbor dies, Joe and Marybeth race to solve the mystery before their three daughters become targets. Meanwhile, Nate Romanowski hunts the man who stole his falcons and attacked his wife. Following leads through a network of falconers, Nate discovers his quarry finances anarchist groups across multiple cities. The chase builds to a brutal confrontation as both storylines converge on the question of how far people will go to protect what matters most.
