Dr. John Watson needs lodgings in London and finds himself paired with an eccentric consulting detective named Sherlock Holmes. Watson watches his new flatmate work through bizarre experiments and sudden disappearances before Holmes invites him along on a murder investigation. A man lies dead in an abandoned house with no wounds but the word "RACHE" scrawled in blood on the wall. Holmes reads clues others miss and unravels a revenge plot stretching back to the American frontier. Later, the King of Bohemia arrives at 221B Baker Street in disguise, desperate for help. He faces scandal from his former lover Irene Adler, who possesses a compromising photograph. Holmes devises an elaborate scheme to recover the image, but Adler proves more clever than expected. She outsmarts the great detective and earns his lasting admiration. These two cases establish the partnership that will define both men's lives.
