Jonathan Kendrick travels to the upstate New York village of Felicity Grove to help his grandmother Anna solve another local crime. Cemetery caretaker Zebediah Crummler sits in an asylum, accused of murdering a member of the wealthy Harnes family. Crummler's childlike mind makes him an easy target for the accusation, but Anna believes he's innocent. Jonathan and his grandmother must decode Crummler's confused stories and rambling statements to find the real killer. The Harnes family wields considerable power in the small town and has their own plans for justice. Jonathan and Anna race against time to prove Crummler's innocence before the influential family takes matters into their own hands. The investigation forces them to navigate the dangerous politics of a tight-knit community where wealth and family name can override the law.
