Sheriff Jessie Hammond watches the sky light up over Inferno, Texas, as something crashes into the desert outside town. Within hours, an invisible barrier seals every road and exit. No one can leave. The thing that fell from space begins its work immediately. Bodies turn up mutilated beyond recognition. Residents transform into grotesque creatures that hunt their former neighbors. The alien hunter has turned Inferno into its personal killing ground. Hammond rallies the surviving townspeople as their numbers dwindle. They face an enemy that can reshape flesh and bone at will. The creature feeds on terror and death, growing stronger with each kill. The remaining humans must find a way to destroy something that seems indestructible. Their final stand will determine whether anyone escapes Inferno alive.
