Lazaro Archer runs Order operations across Italy, but twenty years alone cannot erase the trauma of watching his family die. This immortal Breed warrior rejected love long ago. A botched mission forces him to shield Melena Walsh from supernatural threats. She recognizes him immediately. He saved her life when she was small. The hero she remembers now carries centuries of grief and fury. Melena depends on Lazaro to stay alive, but staying close creates new dangers. Their bond grows stronger each day though he fights it. He struggles against feelings he vowed never to experience again. She hesitates to trust her heart to someone duty-bound to protect her. Both bear wounds that seem to make love impossible, yet their attraction intensifies while hostile forces gather around them.
